Football Analysis

Video Analysis in Football

Being a football player growing up, I transferred into analysis, working with one of the top academies in the North East of England at Salford City FC. I have since become the head analyst at the University of Salford 1st team football.
Here are some things that I produced in that time that can help your team as well!

Video Opponent Previews

Every week I create opponent preview videos to show the players any upcoming threats that we could face. This would be using footage from previous matches that the team would play. It would show formations, goal kick set up, set pieces, key chances, and key players. The players, captains and coaches found these videos really useful and said it helped prepare their training in the week.

These videos allowed our players to know what they would be facing and would prepare the team as individuals and as a group. The captains said it allowed them to understand their player rolls better and helped make key decisions.

Filming for Football

I filmed all matches for Salford City and the University of Salford using my VEO Cameras. These cameras track the ball on their own while standing 5m in the air. This allows me to see shape and patterns to help coaches. They are incredibly useful and allow me to code live and produce statistics for coaches at half time and full time.

Team Statistics and visualisations

Every Match I will produce team statistics to show to coaches live and post match. They allow for quick tactical changes to be made in game and have changed some coaches team talks that I have worked with. These sheets show key team performance indicators such as shots, fouls, offsides and goals.

During matches I will produce these stats along with visualisations to show different aspects of play such as key stats, possession, and shot maps for both teams using a dashboard in Nac Sport.

Post Match Reviews.

Post Match, I will create PowerPoints showing key team statistics, videos of where players can improve and what they did well, as well as individual statistics. These individual statistics show  every pass, tackle, shot, missed tackle, and ground/aerial dual as well as saves for goal keepers. With these key team statistics I add in visualisations to delve deeper into performance indicators such as possession, turnovers, and shots.

I have had strong reviews from captains, players and coaches about these visualisations, saying that they are helpful at delving deeper into particular KPIs.
